Garret Potter

After near a decade of work in preschool and elementary education, Garret came to the University of Michigan to help early learners explore their curiosities and build global historical context. Growing up in nine states (& more than twelve schools), Garret saw that—despite common curiosities and capabilities—each child receives a drastically different education depending on where they live, who surrounds them, and whether or not they can access or read text. Garret saw fear and conflict arise where there were gaps in understanding. He works to build Everstory so that early learners can follow their interests to find what is unique, how we are connected, and what we all have in common. Garret is a father and former preschool and Kindergarten teacher. Currently, Garret serves as a graduate student instructor at the University of Michigan and a volunteer for Ann Arbor Bike Parks.
